What an adventure we had with this little boy! I was scheduled to be induced on the 24th of July at 8am. So of course the night before I went into labor on my own. Happens every time. On Thursday July 23rd I started having contractions around 9pm. Scott asked me if we needed to head to the hospital, I said no not yet lets try and get some sleep (0f course I did not sleep but he did). Luckily we were already in Tucson due to having to be there for Dr. Apt that day. Come 2:30am the contractions were about 8-10min apart so we headed to the hospital. They checked me in and found that I was already 6cm and 80% effaced and he was sitting right there. They broke my water in hopes that the baby would come quickly due to my previous history of this happening. This was not the case. When they broke my water the opposite happened. The baby decided to move back up inside of me and flip into a weird posterior position. Along with my cervix moving towards my back. Along with this the contractions came harder and faster and I ended up with Back Labor along with Front labor. And every time I had a contraction the babies heart beat would drop low, just when he would recover I would have another contraction and it would drop low again. Come 7am there was no progress I was still at 6cm and the babies heart beat was going crazy due to the contractions so close together.
The nurses and Dr. were confused at why this was happening and due to the size and frequency of my contractions the baby should have been born. So due to the intense pain I asked for an epidural. I didn't want the epidural just some pain meds. in my I.V. but they could not do that due to the babies irregular heart beat. Once the epidural was in place I was in heaven and completely exhausted since I had been up since 4:30am on the 23rd due going to town for Dr. appointments and it was now 7am on Friday the 24th. The Dr. was hoping that the epidural would help me to relax resulting in the baby descending back into delivery position. This did not happen and his heart beat was getting weaker. So they asked me if I would allow an emergency c-section. At this point I didn't care what they did I just wanted him to be okay and to have the pain over with. So with in minutes of this decision I was rolled from one bed to another and hooked up to all these machines with 10 people around me racing me down to the operating room. My anesthesiologist gave me some other type of medicine that completely numbed me from the shoulders down. Once I was in the operating room Dillon was out a min later it was so quick and crazy but such a relief to have him out. They found that he was in tangled in the umbilical cord and it was wrapped tightly around his neck. He had bruises on the front of his neck from the cord squeezing him. The Dr. said had he been born naturally he would most likely have been strangled. They also believed that the reason he was not descending down again was due to the cord restricting him every time I had a contraction.
Scott decided to stay out of the delivery room due to everything happening so quickly and tons of people in there working on me. Needless to say we are both fine, and never ever want to experience anything like that again!! C-sections hurt so badly!! I feel like I was hit by a train and someone tried to put me back together again. I slept for 2 days in the hospital after he was born and I have been sleeping off and on since and it is 5days later and I can hardly move or walk. I am not allowed to lift, bend, clean, cook, carry or do anything but sit on my butt for 2weeks!! I am happy to say that we are both doing good and healing quickly. Dillon is such a sweet and peaceful baby and so far an excellent sleeper!
Love at first Sight

My anesthesiologist took these pictures for me with his camera phone.
He was so happy to hold him, and was laughing
whenever baby Dill would try and suck on his hands.

sheeesh, that wore me out just reading about it! I am so glad everything is good...another beautiful boy and nephew to add to our moore clan! Can't wait to see him
Wow, That's crazy Candice!! I'm sorry you had to go through all that. But he is a beautiful little guy! Congratulations!
Congratulations on a HEALTHY baby boy!! I can't believe how bad that could have turned out and I'm SO glad you are both doing well (though I'm sure recovering from that C section is absolutely not fun).
He's adorable - I'm right there with you with all this new baby stuff. It's so exciting, happy, yet tiring and overwhelming at the same time as you should now know 4 times over!
I hope your ward is bringing you lots of meals and taking good care of you and that you have some family or friends to help, especially with the the c-section recovery to go through.
Take care and good work mommy on another beautiful boy!
Oh man, I'm so happy he is ok and you are doing well. I wish I lived closer to help you with all the stuff you can't do right now. I hope you have some help. He is so adorable and I pray you will recover fast. Love you.
My sweet Candice! Your baby boy looks beautiful! I'm so happy everything ended up during out alright. I hope you start feeling better. Remember, just let everyone pamper you! You deserve it!
Wow! What a story!
Congrats!
I'm so glad baby Dillon is here and ok. I feel the same about c-sections. I had one with my last and I hated it. although mine was planned so I didn't have pain from labor as well as c-section recovery. You did it the hard way :(. I hope you get to feeling much better soon. And just remember to take it easy. It takes quite a while for all those layers of muscle and tissue to grow back together.
I'm so glad to hear all is well.
Wow, i agree with the first comment, that post wore me out, you must be exhausted. Hoe everyone in Ajo is taking care of your little family. Congrats on your new addition. He's a cutie:)

Oh my gosh, what a story! We knew ahead of time the cord was wrapped around Devins neck, and I was scared-I can't imagine finding that out after an emergency c-section. So glad you are both healthy and ok! Take your time healing from the c-section, it's no fun at all! Congratulations!!
Sorry I'm late! Congradulations Candice! He's darling! So does that mean we'll have a girl next?... :)
Oh you poor thing! That did not sound fun! I am so glad he is finally here and healthy. What a blessing. Congratulations to your family! The picture of the 4 boys is adorable.
